Schwarzenegger, out of touch on drilling.
And not a solar panel in sight.
Californian Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is opposed to oil drilling off California's coast, despite President Bush's call on increasing oil production to ease soaring oil prices. "California's coastline is an international treasure. I do not support lifting this moratorium on new oil drilling off our coast.”
“America is so addicted to oil that it will take years to wean ourselves from it. To look for new ways to feed our addiction is not the answer. Anyone who tells you this would bring down gas prices anytime soon is blowing smoke.”
Schwarzenegger is engaging in feel good talk with this. “Addicted to oil,” is a ridiculous statement straight from liberal condemnation language.
If he opposes oil drilling let him come up with some real reasons not to do it, not waffle slogans at us. Oil is a vital commodity required throughout industry, not just for running rednecks SUVs or in some cases Hummers. Shouting about alternatives has not made them viable, or practical.
Recent hurricanes in the Gulf did not result in oil spills, this sort of thing is a thing of the past, very much like the thinking of those who seem to want to find reasons to keep the nation dependent on suppliers who are in many cases hostile to US interests.
Arnie like many others are victims of the liberal idea of seeing only ugliness in most productive structures and sites. Can this person seriously not see the beauty of a complex piece of human innovation and engineering such as an oil platform. They cry “Enterprise.”
Oil drilling today will not provide a quick fix to the current shortage, however it is not occurring today because of the idiot attitudes of politicians who threw all of their eggs into the alternative energy basket, without waiting to see if it was viable or practical.
Drilling will make a serious impact in the future, but we have to start now otherwise in ten years when people are deserting rural areas because they simply cant afford to farm or travel we will be wondering why we didn’t start sooner.
