Palin’s Obama put down, Greetings from the 57 States.

Recently sufferers of Palin Derangement Syndrome, have started out to have a field day three times over her statements which they have claimed to be symbolic of ignorance and a lack of ability to lead etc, etc, etc.

The first was her use of the word “refudiate,” especially after she tweeted to the effect that Shakespeare often invented new words. The hysterics went on for a while, until the Oxford American Dictionary came out and declared it the best new word of the year, and gave the following reason:

"From a strictly lexical interpretation of the different contexts in which Palin has used 'refudiate,' we have concluded that neither 'refute' nor 'repudiate' seems consistently precise," the statement read. "'Refudiate' more or less stands on its own, suggesting a general sense of 'reject.' "

The second was when she urged the Tea Party, “not to party like its 1773 yet.” This was taken to indicate that she had no knowledge of history, until it was pointed out by some spoilsport that it obviously alluded to the Boston Tea party, which occurred in that year. The term “Party like its 1773” has been around for some time, but I read the more plebian stuff that the elites would not dream of viewing.

The third was her reference in an interview to North Korea being Americas ally. Had it been said by someone on the left, it would have been dismissed as a ‘mis-statement’ by the media, but being Palin it was blown up as a display of ignorance of geography. She has answered it by highlighting a whole lot of Obama flubs with her message: “A Thanksgiving Message to All 57 States”

My fellow Americans in all 57 states, the time has changed for come. With our country founded more than 20 centuries ago, we have much to celebrate – from the FBI’s 100 days to the reforms that bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system. We know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, and Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. And let’s face it, everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma and they end up taking up a hospital bed. It costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early, and they got some treatment, and ah, a breathalyzer, or an inhalator. I mean, not a breathalyzer, ah, I don’t know what the term is in Austrian for that…

The best part is that each one is a Youtube link to him actually saying it.

She maintains that she didn’t have the time to do one for Joe Biden, who has a great many classics out there. During the Presidential election, there was some speculation by the more paranoid elements that the right would be so racist as to assassinate Obama. He took this seriously, and in a devilishly cunning move made Joe his VP, thus guaranteeing his safety. All of the extreme far right knew Obama was the only thing standing between them and a Biden Presidency.

  1. Good on Sarah. A clever way to handle it and a great come-back to make the accusers look like the biased agenda-drive media hack double-standard-bearers they are. Too bad so few of them will actually get the joke.

She must have been short on space, as the unreported Obama gaffes could probably fill volumes. We're still hacking on Dan Quayle over his inability to spell potato, but how many ever even heard about Obama spelling "advice" with an "s"?

If anyone needs more gaffe ammo, BBB noted a few more examples of "the most cerebral" president's (and others') brilliance. I know you never heard any of it from the media.

  2. Great posts Bawb. I missed them when they went up, maybe it was before I found your site.

The link to "Guam tipping over" is now not available but the video can be found here.

I really admire those Generals and Admirals you have over there in their ability to keep a straight face and remain polite when encountering this sort of stupidity.

  3. She's right on this one, but good lord she has said some really dumb stuff. Ron Paul she ain't, by any stretch.

  4. Some of the "really dumb stuff" was misinformation. For instance the "seeing Russia from her house," was SNL not Palin. When she first came to prominence she was inexperienced but has learned pretty fast.

I am not sure why Paul fans seem to resent all others, Ron is good on a lot of issues, and if he is given the Chairmanship of the Financial Services subcommittee he will do great there. Palin is on the other hand more effective at taking the fight to the enemy and energising the movement.

If you are talking Presidential nominee, Ron will be seen as too old, even though he is in good health and since WW2, (I haven't checked back further) the only two who made the position from Congressman were VPs who replaced Presidents, (Johnson and Ford.)

Look up Gary Johnson who was a two term Governor of NM and is toying with the idea of a run, and has similar ideas to Paul. Your best option would be for Ron to throw his support behind him and it might just work.

  5. I was/am a big Ron Paul supporter. One of the problems with the campaign was the logical, well-thought-out, reasonable, Constitutional discussion that made sense but required an explanation.

Too many among of the voting populace (sheeple) were looking for things they didn't have to wrap their heads around..."Hope 'n' Change!" "Yes we can!""Gimme Money!"

Couple that with a media to the left of Karl Marx who rips into any conservative "outsider" like a pack of jackals and puts "cerebral" buffoons like Obama on a pedestal and it's a very hard combination to beat.

I guess in 2012 we can use some sheeple slogans as well..."Barack Sucks!" "No You Couldn't!" "I Wanna Job!"

  6. Rons interviews are much better where he expands on some of the views he expresses. One of his problems is that he tends to make statements that you or I can see the sense in, but to the outside observer, come across as trite.

Many of the public at large tend to only engage at election time whereas we tend to be engaged and thinking about it in depth a great deal of the time. Our side needs to explain ourselves as the political system has moved so far from the concept of individual liberty that we scare them.

Sir Roger Douglas who was New Zealand Finance Minister back during the Thatcher/Reagan years and a free marketeer (Rogernomics) addressed us early in the year at our National Convention and was asked what was the biggest obstacle to our success. He said it was the fear of the unknown, as so many people had grown up with the state taking responsibility for them that they know nothing else.

I know what you mean about those slogans, they are used because they work. "Tax cuts for the rich," is a prime example. It totally misrepresents the position of resisting a tax increase, yet is accepted by the unthinking, a prime example of the great lie.

On a lighter note, I see Hank Johnson, the Guam tipping over guy, was reelected with 75% of the vote. Its a damn shame that the Dems are able to keep their greatest intellectual assets in safe seats.
