Double standards in wind generation.
Hypocrisy and double standards are common when government gets involved in any matter beyond protecting basic liberties. Once it claims to be acting in the public interest or as they like to call it, “the common good,” then basic rights are violated as normal practice. Years of effort and planning, millions of dollars of investment in projects can be rendered worthless at the stroke of a bureaucrats pen.
Australian farmers are outraged at the activities of some of the coal seam gas companies who routinely damage property with the approval of the state. In some states wind farms are not subject to local authority planning laws, something no other activity is allowed. The state has deemed them to be in the public interest, even if the public objects strongly.
Some of the wildlife protection legislation mentioned in the linked clip (Can't get it to embed) have penalties that are draconian, and completely over the top. The activists who campaigned to have these put in place deserve no sympathy, but the poor bloody birds do. Link.
H/t Townhall.
